Peace, harmony, important to Nigeria, reason for Nigerian Premier of Selma ─ Adefarasin

It has been reported that David Oyelowo and Carmen Ejogo, both stars of the movie and both of Nigerian descent would be attending the premier. I don’t really feel anything one way or the other, but that is the gist sha. I am including the trailer for anyone who is wondering what the movie is about. I do plan to see it once it comes to theatres – I am sure it will be very inspiring.

adefarasinThe Senior Pastor of the House on the Rock Church, Paul Adefarasin, says Nigerians need to live in peace and harmony.

He added that such would make the country to be in its rightful place in the comity of nations and promote the kingdom of God.

The pastor, who spoke on Monday, said the church, to underscore its determination for establishment of peace in Nigeria, would be premiering a movie, Selma, at the church’s cathedral.

Adefarasin said the movie was a part of the church’s efforts to preach against violence and promote peace and tolerance during the general elections.

The movie chronicles the true life story of late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, depicting the struggle against racism and inequality.

Adefarasin said the movie, which the church was making in partnership with the Embassy of the United States of America, was an answer to Nigeria’s current socio-political and election crisis.

He said, “Peace and harmony are important to us all. Regardless of our ethnicity, religion or political persuasion, our country, Nigeria, must remain united and peaceful.

“This is why House on The Rock Church, positioned as a centre for Social Justice and Equity, has decided to bring people from various classes in the Nigerian society together for a remarkable event where we can all stand united for peace at a time like this.”

He said the church’s efforts to continually promote peace would be visible across social media with the hashtag #United4Peace.
