It doesn’t seem like our politicians know how not to politicise virtually everything that directly and indirectly affects the masses.
As workers in Nigeria enjoy the Workers Day Holiday, Rev. Fr. John Konyeke, Catholic Priest of the Church of the Ascension, Asaba, Delta State, has said it was wrong to play politics with the economy of the nation, a reason for not signing of Nigeria’s budget into law.
Delivering a sermon on Monday morning at the Catholic Church, Konyeke observed that the non-signing of the budget was having effects on workers at the formal and non-formal sector.
“How can the workers be free if by May, the budget has not been passed, what will the workers be celebrating? Even in our national anthem, it was clearly stated that ‘the labour of our heroes past, shall never be in vain,” he said.
