TREM organises free soccer clinic for students

Inspiring. Churches are now becoming actively involved in sports and sports’ development- RCCG, MFM, TREM etc. Really don’t know what to think- to be on not to be? Does did say something about what becomes of anything under the governments purview, hence the need for the involvement of the private sector?

mike-okonkwoThe Redeemed Evangelical Mission (TREM) Football Academy (TFA) will tomorrow organise a one-day free football clinic for secondary school students who are between the ages of 11 and 15 years in Lagos State. The event will take place at the Nigerian Institute of Sports (NIS), National Stadium Surulere, Lagos with over 1,000 participants expected.

TFA was established by the Presiding Bishop of TREM, Dr. Mike Okonkwo to discover talents who are youths and sharpen their skills and bring them to lime light.

The Coordinator of the academy, Rev. Denis Kenkwo in a press release made available to National Mirror, said about 20 schools were expected across state with each to come with about 25 students, both males and females.

The whole idea of the TREM Football Academy (TFA) according to him is primarily to sharpen the raw skills of the football loving boys and girls, thereby improving on their ability to perform better and be able to maneuver opposing teams psychologically on the playing field during football tournaments. The one-day free clinic is in collaboration with the Lagos State Football Association (LAFA).
