No comment!

The deteriorating health of the First Lady, Patience Jonathan, and her continuous absence from the country has continued to be a source of worry to Mr. President who had asked friends, family and associates to put his wife in their daily prayers.

A source close to the president has disclosed to reporters at the Villa that Jonathan being a highly devoted man of God has decided to use the morning devotional prayers, which he attends with his wife as a point to reach out to his wife in prayers.

The source said, “The President, as you know, is a very devoted person who has been praying for the wife and those of us who are close to them do not stop to pray for her as well.

“Yesterday (Friday), a special prayer session was conducted for her and we know that God Almighty has already healed her of whatever is afflicting her and that she will soon join us as she used to do every morning.”

It was also gathered that the first lady was to return to the country yesterday, but all effort made by Daily post to reach out to Jonathan’s personal aides to confirm the rumour proved abortive as none of them was ready to speak with our correspondent.

Meanwhile, the rumour about Mrs Jonathan’s ill health continues to wax stronger, as people continue to hold on to their own side of the story. While some believe that the Nigerian number one woman has gone for food poisoning treatment, others believe she went for plastic surgery.

On the contrary, her spokesman, Mr. Ayo Osinlu, had insisted that his boss travelled to Germany just to calm her nerves.

Well first of all, according to government officials,there is nothing wrong with the first lady abi? So what are we praying about? And secondly, all this sycophancy sef! But in all seriousness, its been three weeks and nobody has seen fit to tell us what is going on as a people whose oil and tax money are paying for her treatment abroad. What kind of country is this sef?

Residents of Bayelsa State, particularly the top government officials have organised prayer warriors to pray for the President’s wife, Mrs. Patience Jonathan who had been flown to a German hospital for the past three weeks for medical treatment.

Besides, President Goodluck Jonathan’s residence in Otuoke, Bayelsa State had been receiving visitors who go there to sympathise with the President’s family on the health status of the First Lady.

The State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Mackson Fafegba, who spoke with reporters in Yenagoa, said the prayer was important not because Mrs. Jonathan married their son and she is the first Lady, but because she doubles as a Permanent Secretary in the State.

“We are praying for her quick recovery, and we know very soon, we are going to a hear good news about her health. She is also a mother to us and to all Nigerians. I am not expecting only Bayelsa people to be praying on her behalf, but all Nigerians, because she is serving the nation”.

The church showing social responsibility – very nice! But I just had to laugh and shake my head at the final line: including the Fulani? It shows just how deep the cracks of division are in this country that the reporter found it necessary to add that. Good move by RCCG though.

FRONTLINE clergy and General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Enoch Adeboye, has canvassed private and corporate support for Nigeria’s health sector, saying that its services, despite the relevance, remain expensive for the teeming poor populace.

Adeboye was represented at the church’s second Province, in Kwara State, yesterday, by the pastor in charge of the Province, Mr. Joseph Bankole, who provided free medical services for the benefit of people of Oko-Ode in Ifeodun Local Government Area of the State.

Also distributed to the people, including the Fulani residents in the community, were shoes, clothes and food items.

According to Adeboye, the gesture is a demonstration of brotherly love preached by Jesus Christ.

The humanitarian services were organised by the Province’s branch of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CRS) unit, floated by the national leadership of the church for the purpose of rendering assistance to rural communities and the less privileged.

LOL! What else can one say? I suspect that the dude already had mental health issues long before. But well, strange things do happen. We could start having a whole discussion on the way we treat mental health problems in Nigeria – attributing it to unseen forces instead of treating it as a disease, but I wont. Sad thing is that neither of them will get the help that they need.

PEOPLE living at Oke-Ado area of Ibadan, Oyo State, as well as shop owners and automobile dealers along Molete road in the town, on Thursday, watched a drama involving a pastor and a mad man.

The pastor, whose name is Timothy, according to an eyewitness, got to Ososami junctions of Oke-Ado around 5.20 p.m and went to meet the mentally-deranged man, popularly known as Tunde, who was sitting in front of a building in the area.

According to Semiu, a shop owner around the spot of the incident, the pastor began to read the Bible on sighting the mad man, while he moved closer to him and laid the hand on his head.

“At a point, there was a hot argument between the duo, which made the pastor to raise his voice as he was offering a deliverance prayer for Tunde, the mad man. The hot prayer lasted for over 15 minutes before another strange drama began,” Semiu told the Nigerian Tribune.

Speaking further, another witness, an okada rider, said at a point, the mad man removed the pastor’s hand from his head, adding that “suddenly, a strange spirit got hold of the pastor and he began to remove his cloth. He was naked and laid flat on the ground, speaking a strange language, with foam oozing out of his mouth.”

The mad man, it was gathered, initially left him in this position and sat at some distance away from the pastor, before the duo later sat closer to each other, while onlookers watched the strange drama.

The pastor remained in state of insanity until the Nigerian Tribune left the scene of the incident.

The contents of this video might remind you of a large, negative pity party, but it is an important topic that we need to examine and think about. Its not just an African American thing – its an African thing too. As you watch it, examine your motivations and think hard about how you (unconsciously?) view dark skin – whether yours or somebody else’s. Then after you watch the video, I will tell you how GOD views this issue.

Dark Girls: Preview from Bradinn French on Vimeo.

Does GOD have anything to say to these women and to anyone who feels discriminated against because of their skin color? Yes HE does.

First he says: Racial discrimination is not my will, and I will punish it severely! See story below:

Numbers 12:1-14
1 Then Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married; for he had married an Ethiopian woman. 2 So they said, “Has the LORD indeed spoken only through Moses? Has He not spoken through us also?” And the LORD heard it. 3 (Now the man Moses was very humble, more than all men who were on the face of the earth.)
4 Suddenly the LORD said to Moses, Aaron, and Miriam, “Come out, you three, to the tabernacle of meeting!” So the three came out. 5 Then the LORD came down in the pillar of cloud and stood in the door of the tabernacle, and called Aaron and Miriam. And they both went forward. 6 Then He said,

“Hear now My words:
If there is a prophet among you,
I, the LORD, make Myself known to him in a vision;
I speak to him in a dream.

7 Not so with My servant Moses;
He is faithful in all My house.

8 I speak with him face to face,
Even plainly, and not in dark sayings;
And he sees the form of the LORD.
Why then were you not afraid
To speak against My servant Moses?”
9 So the anger of the LORD was aroused against them, and He departed. 10 And when the cloud departed from above the tabernacle, suddenly Miriam became leprous, as white as snow. Then Aaron turned toward Miriam, and there she was, a leper. 11 So Aaron said to Moses, “Oh, my lord! Please do not lay this sin on us, in which we have done foolishly and in which we have sinned. 12 Please do not let her be as one dead, whose flesh is half consumed when he comes out of his mother’s womb!”
13 So Moses cried out to the LORD, saying, “Please heal her, O God, I pray!”
14 Then the LORD said to Moses, “If her father had but spit in her face, would she not be shamed seven days? Let her be shut out of the camp seven days, and afterward she may be received again.” 15 So Miriam was shut out of the camp seven days, and the people did not journey till Miriam was brought in again.

There is some controversy over whether or not the Moses’ wife was black. I believe she was because of the punishment meted out – Miriam was afflicted with a disease that made her REALLY white!

Secondly, GOD says: Black is beautiful!

Song of Solomon 1:5
I am dark, but lovely,
O daughters of Jerusalem,
Like the tents of Kedar,
Like the curtains of Solomon.

So dark skinned girl, smile! You are beautiful. You are fearfully and wonderfully made in HIS image!
